Nonino Prize “To a Master of our Time” 1991

To Peter Brook, the master of the British stage, a complete show man who by full right belongs to the European generation of the drama reformers of the second half of the Twentieth century, a director who, during his over forty years of activity, has signed many memorable stage productions, sometimes turning them into movies in a full expression autonomy.

The prize wants to be a particular acknowledgement to the “Mahabhàrata”, the point of arrival of a multidisciplinary work in direction, by which he has demonstrated that also cinema and television can compete in a creative way with the myths of humanity, turning the great anonymous poem of a far off culture into a likewise great popular show.

The prize will be delivered by Mario Soldati.
