FABIOLA GIANOTTI, in charge of the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hardon Collider of the CERN in Geneva, on July 4th 2012 announces the existence of the “Higgs boson”. This result, the fruit of twenty years of work of the scientific community of particles physicists, has contributed to change the history of physics. “This is only the beginning of LHC’s long journey”, she says.

With her the Nonino prize awards the excellence of a research that has an immense potential but unfortunately is often humiliated in our country.
