NONINO PRIZE "TO A MASTER OF OUR TIME" 2013

Peter Higgs

In the sixties Prof. PETER HIGGS senses and theorizes the existence of an elementary particle, a “boson” that will be named after him.

An intuition that, if proved, would change our understanding of basic physics and therefore of the evolution of the universe.

On July 4th, 2012, at CERN in Geneva the ATLAS and CMS experiments, coordinated by Fabiola Gianotti and Joseph Incandela demonstrate its existence changing since that day the history of knowledge.

The prize is delivered by Antonio R. Damasio
